Abundance of coconut from home garden, most of which we are sun drying to get oil. The variety of coconut is so sweet that I wanted to make this family favourite recipe ” Thengai Ulundhu Podi. A recipe that I learnt from my mom, which is often made by her during my Dad’s Sabarimala Pilgrimage days every year. She makes it in a large batch to be sent along with loads of Variety rice that she used to pack for the travel.
Dad usually goes with a group of people and they never eat out during those days. Mom used to pack Puliyodharai, Lemon Rice, Curd Rice, Idlies and Sathu Mavu Urundais. Idlies and Curd Rice for the first day of travel, lemon rice for second day and Puliyodharai for the third and fourth days. This particular podi can be stored for almost a week and goes well with all these variety rice and idlies. I love this with Puliyodharai that amma makes š Its been a long pending recipe in my wish list to be shared here.
A very simple and flavourful recipe to make and keep for this rainy days. And, don’t forget to relish this with hot hot Puliodharai š
