Hi all 🙂 It’s been a long-pending recipe from my list to be added here, Pagarkai / Pavakai Pitali, the unique Kuzhambu recipe using Bittergourd. Personally, I prefer and particular about making this with Baby Bitter gourd (Midhi Pavakai) as it tastes the best for this recipe. Whenever I get hold of Baby Bittergourd, only I think of Pitlai and this is one recipe that mom likes very much that too I always pair it with Instant Mango pickle, Brinjal Fry or Spicy Potato fry. I love this to take this with Curd Rice as well. A very versatile and flavorful recipe. As I couldn’t get Baby Bittergourd I have used normal ones, also I used Kabuli Channa here whereas the recipe calls for Black Channa. You can also skip Channa.


Serve this with hot steamed rice and a dollop of ghee. Mango Pachadi is a good combo with this. Try and share your feedback 🙂
