Yayyy… It’s our 250th post here and the best thing is, it is on Aadi Pathinettu / Aadi Perukku (the 18th day of Tamizh Month Aadi) which is supposed to multiply our happiness, prosperity, and success by worshipping Goddess Durga. It is a festival to worship Water as god as our entire life on earth depends on Water. It is popular in south India where we go to river to offer prayers with Jaggery, sesame, and coconut mixed rice, turmeric soaked threads, seasonal fruits, and Chitrannam (Variety Rice). We pray the river goddess and tie the yellow thread to our family members and even neighbors on the river banks. It is celebrated as a community festival and is more a social gathering.
Aadi Koozh / Kummayam is a neivedhyam that is made during Aadi month in Chettinad cuisine to offer the goddess. I made this with KarupuKavuni Rice instead of normal rice to make it even healthier as a part of my Heirloom Rice Recipe Series. There are many proportions that are available online but this is the proportion that we follow at home. Glad that this Chettinad Specialty being my 250th post. You can make this powder and store which can be used throughout the month of Aadi to offer the goddess.

Thanks to each one of you for all the love and support. I have quite a big list of recipes that I had shared on my FB page to be updated here. I hope to get them listed here as soon as possible. Do try this and share your feedback. Wishing you all a Happy Aadi Perukku.
