Thakkali Kuzhambu – Village Style

Hello dear all 🙂 Here I am with a tasty village style Tomato / Thakkali Kuzhambu recipe which I learnt from my grandma and is my most favorite one to go with hot steamed rice. She makes this every week Friday night during my College days during my visits to home on weekends. I used to love this as a dinner after 4 hrs of travel from Madurai to Thanjavur with hot steamed rice, and her special Koozh Vadagam. She ensures she makes it fresh in the evening and keep specially for me as I used to hate Hostel food. One of my favorites from Grandma’s Kitchen.

I wanted to document this recipe here for a long time but somehow missed it. As I got some fresh organically grown country tomatoes from farm I wanted to make this yummy recipe.

Country Tomatoes / Nattu Thakkali and Gingelly Oil are the best ones for this gravy, to get the best flavour. I make it in Mud pot to get that rustic taste as my grandma does. Try out and share your comments and feedback 🙂
